About this tool
The line operations tool edits every line of a text in one pass, combining four common jobs:
- Delete characters: remove n characters from the left or right of each line
- Truncate characters: keep the first n or the last n characters of each line
- Prefix and suffix: add fixed text before and after each line
- Numbering: add sequence numbers in formats such as 1. or 01., with a configurable start
When to use it
- Wrapping every line in quotes or adding trailing commas
- Cutting lines to a fixed length
- Numbering a list
- Removing a fixed prefix from every line
Tips
- Quoting: set the prefix to
"and the suffix to",to wrap each line - Number formats: 1. / 01. / (1) / [1] and similar patterns
- Bulk editing: every operation applies to all lines at once
