About this tool
The QR code decoder reads the content of a code from an image:
- Upload: pick or drag in an image and the content is detected automatically
- Two engines: the native BarcodeDetector API first, with a jsQR fallback for broader support
- Type detection: recognize a URL, plain text, WiFi settings, email address or phone number
- Smart actions: a URL shows an open link button and WiFi data is displayed as settings
- Copy: copy the decoded result in one click
When to use it
- Read a code from a web page or screenshot
- Check that a generated code is correct
- Extract the URL inside a code
- Recover the password from a WiFi sharing code
Tips
- Clarity: keep the code sharp, uncovered and free of glare
- Framing: the code should fill most of the image, without large empty margins
- Inverted codes: the jsQR engine also reads light-on-dark codes
- Browser: Chrome 83 or newer, Edge 83 or newer and Safari 15.4 or newer are recommended
