About this tool

Cropping removes the parts of a picture you do not need and keeps the area you want. Drag a selection on the image, resize it from the corners and export:

  • Drag to select: draw a box with the mouse, resize it from any corner and move the whole selection
  • Ratio presets: free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16 and 3:2, with the selection snapping to the chosen ratio
  • Exact pixels: type width and height when a platform demands a fixed size
  • Live preview: the result and the exported file size update on the right
  • Output control: keep the original format or export PNG, JPG or WebP, with a fill color for transparency when converting to JPG

When to use it

  • Profile pictures and product shots: crop to a 1:1 square that fits social and marketplace covers
  • Article covers: cut the subject at 2.35:1 or 16:9
  • Phone wallpapers: crop to a 9:16 portrait ratio
  • Table screenshots: remove the desktop and taskbar around the capture
  • Annotated screenshots: crop first, then add text with the watermark tool

Crop versus resize

Cropping removes content: fewer pixels and a different composition. Resizing changes the dimensions of the whole image: same content, scaled up or down. They work well together: crop first, then resize to the size a platform requires.

FAQ

Q: Does cropping lose sharpness?
A: The removed area is gone, but the kept area still holds its original pixels and is not resampled. That is different from shrinking an image.

Q: Do the file name and dimensions change?
A: The name looks like crop_widthxheight.png, and the dimensions match the selected pixel area, which makes the result easy to identify.

Q: Are images uploaded?
A: No. Selection and export run in a browser canvas; the server never sees the image.
