Filename and Extension Splitter

The splitter separates base names from extensions across a list:

• Smart split: the last dot is treated as the separator
• Compound extensions: .tar.gz and .tar.bz2 are handled as one extension
• Batch input: paste many filenames at once
• Two columns: base name and extension shown separately for easy copying
• No extension: names without a dot pass through unchanged

When to use it

• Tidy a file list
• Group files by extension
• Prepare names before a batch rename
• Count how many of each file type you have
