About this tool
The common denominator calculator rewrites several fractions with the same denominator:
- Any number of fractions: add as many as you need
- Least common denominator: the LCM of all denominators is chosen automatically
- Working shown: each fraction shows the multiplier (LCM divided by its old denominator)
- Result list: all converted fractions in one place
What finding a common denominator means
Fractions with different denominators are rewritten as equivalent fractions sharing one denominator. The key is the LCM of the denominators. For example 1/4 and 1/6 become 3/12 and 2/12.
