AI chat assistants

11 total

General-purpose chat assistants for Q&A, writing, translation, research and brainstorming.

Chat assistants are where most people first meet AI: asking a question, rewriting a paragraph, summarizing meeting notes, or drafting a first version. The models behind them differ, but what matters day to day is the experience: how much context fits, how natural the language sounds, whether it can read uploaded files, and how much signup friction there is.

Some products can be registered and used directly from mainland China; others require a work email or an invite code. The tags on each card say which case applies, so you do not find out after clicking through.

How to choose

Choose by the task you handle most often:

  • Mostly Chinese documents: for official writing, weekly reports or Chinese wording, start with the mainland Chinese products. Their Chinese corpus fits better and signup is simpler.
  • Long documents and code: if you paste contracts, papers or whole codebases at once, pick a product with a very long context window.
  • Real-time information: a standard chat model only knows its training cutoff. Use a chat product with web search, listed under AI search.
  • Translation and polishing only: you do not need a chat interface. Dedicated writing and office tools are faster.

Keep one primary assistant. Run the same batch of tasks through two products before paying for either, and avoid holding several subscriptions at once.

Frequently asked questions

Are my conversations used to train the model?

Many products use conversations for model improvement by default, usually with an opt-out in settings; enterprise plans generally promise not to train on your data. If you handle client material, code or unpublished drafts, check that setting first or use the enterprise/team plan.

Why do two products answer the same question so differently?

Training data and alignment strategies differ, and the gap in Chinese wording, fact checking and refusal boundaries is larger than expected. That is why running the same tasks through several products tells you more than comparing spec sheets.

Can I use it on my phone?

Mainstream mainland Chinese assistants have a standalone app or mini program. Most international products offer a web app and a mobile app. Each detail page notes the main form factor.

How many assistants do I need?

One or two. One primary, one for cross-checking facts and wording. Beyond two, your time goes into moving context around instead of producing work.
