AI voice and music
9 totalSpeech synthesis, transcription, real-time dubbing and AI music.
Audio capabilities split into four lines: text to speech (voiceover, narration), speech to text (transcription, subtitles), converting one language into another while keeping the speaker's voice (video translation), and generating music and sound effects.
For Chinese, accent and naturalness are the main things to test; English-first products are not always good at Chinese pronunciation. For transcription, terminology handling and multi-speaker support matter most.
Separate input from output first:
- Text in, voice out: voiceover products. Check the number of Chinese voices and control over speed and pauses.
- Voice in, text out: transcription products. Look for speaker separation, custom vocabulary and live capture.
- Video into another language: this needs voice preservation and lip alignment, a specialized feature not found in general voiceover tools.
- Background music: AI composition tools. Check commercial rights and whether lyrics are included.
- Running locally: transcription and speech models can run on your own machine; for generation, see the open-model category.

Frequently asked questions
How is AI voiceover different from a human?
AI wins on consistent reading, batch updates and language switching. Humans still win on emotional range, accent detail and the rhythm of long sentences. Synthetic speech is enough for informational content; ads and film narration with emotion should keep a human.
How accurate is transcription?
A single speaker reading clear Mandarin in a quiet room is close to usable. Overlapping speakers, dialects, jargon and far-field recordings degrade sharply. Preparing a custom vocabulary helps more than switching products.
Are there permission issues with cloning my own voice?
Cloning someone else's voice requires their explicit permission, and most platforms require a recording check. Whether you must label synthetic content depends on the platform and your jurisdiction.
Can AI-generated music be used in videos?
It depends on the license the platform grants; some only allow commercial use on paid plans. Copyright registration and distribution of generated music remain uncertain, so prefer products that document their licensing when you plan to release.
